Last updated:
This English version is provided for convenience. The Hebrew version is the binding text.
This document, together with the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy, forms the binding terms for using the website chiplab.co.il and the services of ChipLab Computer Lab. Browsing the site, using it or handing a device in for service constitutes acceptance of all three documents.
Anyone who does not agree to these terms, in whole or in part, is asked to stop using the site immediately. Any gendered or plural wording is for convenience only and applies to all genders.
The service is intended for people aged 18 and over. A minor may order a service or buy a product only with the explicit approval of a parent or guardian. See the "Eligibility" section below.

Eligibility
- To receive a service or make a purchase, the customer must be 18 or older and legally competent to enter into a binding agreement.
- A minor may order a service or buy a product only with the explicit approval of a parent or guardian.
- The customer declares that the device belongs to them, or that its owner has authorized them to hand it in for service and to approve the work on it.
How the Service Works
- Diagnosis: we examine the device and explain in plain words what went wrong.
- Quote: we give a price for the work before we start.
- Work starts only after the customer has approved the quote.
- Additional fault: if another fault is found during the work, we stop and ask the customer before continuing. Additional work is done only after separate approval.
- When the work is done, the customer receives a message that the device is ready for pickup.
Diagnosis fee: for Eyal and Moshe to confirm - whether the diagnosis is charged, and how much, if the customer does not approve the repair.
Turnaround time: turnaround time not set yet. Turnaround depends on the type of fault and on parts availability, and is given to the customer together with the quote. If a part from a supplier is delayed, the customer will be told promptly.
Accuracy of details: the customer must provide a correct name and phone number and an accurate description of the fault. Incorrect details may delay the service, and the customer is responsible for that.
Prices and Payment
- Prices on the site are "from" prices. The exact price is set after the diagnosis, and it is the binding price the customer approves before work starts.
- Prices are final. The amount the customer approved is the amount charged; no VAT is currently charged, and if VAT applies in the future it will be added as required by law.
- Payment methods and payment date: for Eyal and Moshe to confirm.
- Prices of parts depend on the supplier's price at the time of ordering. Prices on the site may be updated; the binding price is the one approved in the quote.
Home Visits
- A technician visit at the customer's home is available in Haifa, Nesher and the Krayot, for a fee and by prior appointment.
- Home visit price: price not set yet.
- Sometimes the work cannot be completed at home and the device has to be taken to the lab. In that case the customer receives an explanation and a quote, and the device is taken only with their approval.
- Canceling or rescheduling a booked visit: for Eyal and Moshe to confirm - until when a visit can be canceled without charge.
Data on the Device and Backup
- Before handing in the device, it is the customer's responsibility to back up the data that matters to them, as far as the device allows. Work such as reinstallation, replacing a drive or repairing a board can cause data loss even when done correctly.
- When the work requires it (for example a reinstallation), we back up the files temporarily. The temporary backup is deleted after the files are returned to the customer. The lab does not keep customers' files. Details in the Privacy Policy.
Data Recovery
If the operating system will not start, we can try to recover the data from the computer. There is no promise that everything, or even part of it, will be recovered. We will do our best.
Data recovery depends on the physical condition of the storage media and on what happened to it, so there is no commitment to a result. The recovered files are given to the customer, and the copy we worked with is deleted afterwards.
Warranty
- Warranty on the work: period not set yet, covering the fault that was repaired and the work that was done.
- Warranty on parts: according to the warranty given by the manufacturer or importer of the part. The lab will help the customer claim the warranty from the manufacturer or importer.
- Products sold in the lab (peripherals and accessories): according to the manufacturer's or importer's warranty, and in line with the Consumer Protection Regulations (Warranty and After-Sales Service), 5766-2006, to the extent they apply to the product.
- What is not covered: damage caused after pickup by a fall, impact, breakage or liquid; a new fault unrelated to the work done; viruses and malware that got in after pickup; software the customer installed or changed; opening or repair by anyone not acting on behalf of the lab; and normal wear and tear.
- Fit for your needs: the lab recommends an upgrade or a product based on what the customer told it, but the decision what to buy is the customer's.
- Nothing here limits the customer's rights under the Sale Law and the Consumer Protection Law regarding non-conformity or defects.
Picking Up the Device
- A message that the device is ready for pickup is sent to the phone number the customer provided. Pickup is during the lab's business hours.
- At pickup, we recommend checking that the device works and that the returned files are intact.
- Uncollected devices: if a device is not collected within for Eyal and Moshe to confirm days of the message that it is ready, the lab will contact the customer with another reminder before taking any step. for Eyal and Moshe to confirm - whether storage fees are charged, and what happens to a device that is still not collected after the reminder. Any such step is taken only after prior notice to the customer and an opportunity to collect the device, and in accordance with the law.
Loaner Computer During the Repair
- At the customer's request, the lab lends a loaner computer for the duration of the repair. The loan is subject to signing a loan form.
- Loan terms: deposit, liability for damage or loss, and return date: not set yet - will be detailed in the loan form.

- Cancellation after the quote was approved and work has started: for Eyal and Moshe to confirm - charge for work already done and for parts ordered specially.
- Notice of cancellation is given by WhatsApp, phone or email, as detailed in the "Customer Service" section.
- How refunds are made: any refund due is made through the payment method used for the transaction, to the person who paid. When the credit actually appears in the customer's account depends on the credit card company or the bank, and the lab is not responsible for delays on their side.
- Nothing here limits the customer's cancellation rights under the Consumer Protection Law, 5741-1981, to the extent they apply to the transaction.
Cancellation or Refusal by the Lab
The lab may refuse to provide a service, stop work or cancel a transaction in any of these cases:
- The customer breached these terms or acted against the law.
- False or misleading details were given deliberately.
- There is reasonable concern that the device does not belong to the customer, or that they are not authorized to hand it in.
- The customer asked for work that is illegal, such as installing unlicensed software or bypassing protection on a device that is not theirs.
- The fault cannot be repaired, or no replacement part is available.
- The customer's conduct harms the lab, its staff or other customers.
- An obvious clerical error appeared on the site or in the quote.
- Force majeure occurred, as detailed below.
In such a case the device is returned to the customer, and any amount paid for work not done is refunded. This section does not limit the customer's rights under the law.
Prohibited Content on the Device
The lab does not search for content on devices. However, if content whose possession is illegal is exposed by chance during the work, the lab may stop the work and act as the law requires, including reporting to the authorities.
Force Majeure
The lab is not liable for failure or delay in meeting its obligations due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including strikes and lockouts, an epidemic or orders of the authorities, a security situation or war, communication disruptions, power failures, cyberattacks, a delay or failure at a parts supplier, and natural disasters.
In such circumstances the lab will notify the customer promptly, and may postpone the completion date of the work or cancel it - and in case of cancellation, any amount the customer paid for work not done is refunded.
Intellectual Property
- All intellectual property rights in the site - design, code, logo, text and images - belong to ChipLab and may not be copied without written permission.
- The files on the device remain the customer's. The lab acquires no right in them and uses them only for the approved work.
- The customer declares that they hold the licenses for the software they ask to install or transfer.
- No automated access: no software or automated means (robots, crawlers, scrapers and the like) may be used against the site to copy or systematically collect content, and no database or price list may be built from the site's content. The site or any part of it may not be displayed inside a frame (framing), its design may not be altered and content may not be removed from it. This section does not apply to search engines or to tools the site explicitly allows in its robots.txt file.
Limitation of Liability
- The information on the site is for general orientation. The quote given to the customer after the diagnosis is the binding one.
- The lab is not liable for indirect or consequential damage to the customer, including loss of profit or loss of working time, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
- Data loss: the lab is not responsible for data loss caused by the fault itself, by the condition of the storage media, or by work that was done properly and as approved, when the customer did not back up the data. Nothing here releases the lab from liability for damage caused by its negligence.
- The lab's liability for any damage in connection with a service is limited to the amount actually paid for that service, to the extent permitted by law.
- The site: the lab does not guarantee that the site will run without interruptions or faults, but will work to fix any fault promptly. The site is secured according to accepted practice, but complete immunity from intrusion cannot be guaranteed.
- Limitation period: any claim, allegation or demand against the lab in connection with the service must be filed within one year from the date the cause of action arose. This period is agreed as a contractual limitation period.
Indemnification
The customer undertakes to indemnify the lab and anyone acting on its behalf for any damage, loss or expense, including legal fees, caused to them by:
- the customer's breach of these terms;
- the customer's breach of any law;
- a claim or demand by a third party in connection with the device or its content, including a claim that the device is not the customer's, or a claim of software license or copyright infringement in connection with software or a file the customer asked to install or transfer.
The lab will notify the customer of any such claim within a reasonable time and allow them to take part in the defense. This section remains in force after the relationship ends.
Dispute Resolution
In any dispute concerning the service or the site, the parties will first try to settle it by direct, good-faith discussion. If no agreement is reached within 30 days of a written approach, either party may turn to the courts.
Nothing here prevents the lab from going to court over non-payment or intellectual property infringement, and nothing here limits the customer's right to turn to the courts or to the Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Authority at any time.
Miscellaneous
- Relationship between the documents: these terms, the Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy are meant to complement each other. In case of conflict, the document specific to the matter prevails: the Privacy Policy on personal data, and the Cookie Policy on cookies and browser storage. In any case, a mandatory provision of law prevails over everything in the three documents.
- Assignment: the lab may assign its rights and obligations under these terms to a third party, provided the customer's rights are not harmed. The customer may not assign their rights without written consent.
- Severability: if any provision of these terms is found void or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in force.
- The current version of the terms published on the site is the binding one. A material change applies only to services ordered after its publication.
- These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and exclusive jurisdiction is given to the competent courts in Haifa.
