Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

This English version is provided for convenience. The Hebrew version is the binding text.

This document is an integral part of the Terms of Service and the Cookie Policy. Browsing and using the website chiplab.co.il constitutes acceptance of this policy; anyone who does not agree to it is asked to stop using the site. ChipLab is committed to the privacy of its customers and visitors, and acts in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Law, 5741-1981, including Amendment 13.

Plural wording is for convenience only and addresses all genders.

Who We Are and Who Is Responsible

ChipLab Computer Lab is a brand of Eyal Meshulam and Moshe Vanunu. The site operator and owner of the database: Eyal Meshulam, an exempt dealer (osek patur), business number business number not provided yet, address not provided yet.

The person responsible for privacy protection and for inquiries about personal data: Eyal Meshulam, phone 055-5635244, email email not provided yet.

The Files on Your Computer - the Core Principle

A computer that comes in for repair usually holds its owner's most private information. Therefore:

  • We do not keep customers' files.
  • We access files on the device only to the extent needed for the work you approved (for example data recovery, data transfer or reinstallation), and we do not look at personal content beyond that.
  • A temporary backup made during a reinstallation is deleted after the files are returned to you. The same applies to data recovery and data transfer: the copy we worked with is deleted after the files are handed to you.
  • We do not use your files for any other purpose, we do not pass them to anyone, and we do not use them for advertising.
  • Before handing in a device for repair, we recommend backing up the data that matters to you, as far as the device allows. If you gave us a login password for the device for the work, we recommend changing it after you get the device back.

What Data Is Collected and Why

  • When you contact us (WhatsApp, phone or email): the name, phone number and fault description you gave, and photos if you sent any - so we can reply and give you a quote.
  • When you hand in a device for repair or book a home visit: name, phone, address (for a home visit), device details, fault description, the quote and the approvals you gave, and payment and invoice details - to perform the service, provide the warranty, issue an invoice and give customer service. These details are required so that we can provide the service.
  • When you buy an accessory or peripheral in the lab: the transaction and invoice details.
  • Browsing the site: the site does not run analytics tools, advertising pixels or tracking cookies. As on every website, the infrastructure provider records technical logs (IP address, browser type, time of request) for security and operations. Details: Cookie Policy.

Payment details (such as a credit card number) are not collected on the site. The site does not take payments.

Legal Basis for Processing

Data is processed on the basis of: (a) your consent; (b) the need to perform the service you ordered; (c) legal obligations that apply to us (for example keeping records under tax law); (d) a legitimate interest in operating and securing the site and the lab.

How Long Data Is Kept

  • Files from the device: not kept. A temporary working copy is deleted after the files are handed to you (see above).
  • Service records, quotes and invoices: as required by tax law, and as long as needed to provide the warranty.
  • An inquiry that did not lead to work: as long as needed to handle it. You can ask for its deletion at any time.
  • Technical logs at the infrastructure provider: according to that provider's retention policy.

At the end of the period the data is deleted or anonymized.

Sharing Data with Third Parties

Data is shared only with those needed to provide the service, and only to the minimum extent required:

  • Site infrastructure provider - Cloudflare, which serves the site. It records the technical logs described above.
  • Shabbat and holiday times - the site is closed on Shabbat and Jewish holidays. To know when, it sends the Hebcal service a general, rounded location (regional level, roughly 100 km) and a time zone. No IP address or other identifying detail is sent.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) - if you chose to contact us on WhatsApp, the conversation goes through their service and is subject to their privacy policy. The WhatsApp button on the site is only a link, and sends no data before you click it.
  • Invoicing system - system name not provided yet - to issue invoices as required by law.
  • Manufacturer or authorized service center - only if the device is sent for repair under a manufacturer's warranty, and only with your consent.
  • Our sister company A.M.S (amash.co.il, IT services for businesses) - your details are passed to it only if you asked for that.
  • Contracts with providers: we work with service providers that are bound to keep the data secure and to process it solely to provide the service to ChipLab, not for their own purposes.
  • Authorities - if required by law.

Some of these providers operate outside Israel, so the transfer is made subject to their safeguards for international data transfers.

We do not sell, rent or trade personal data.

Your Rights Under Amendment 13

  • The right to access the data collected about you.
  • The right to ask for correction of inaccurate or outdated data.
  • The right to ask for deletion of data (subject to legal retention duties, such as tax records).
  • The right to withdraw consent you gave, at any time.
  • The right to file a complaint with the Privacy Protection Authority.

For requests on these matters: email email not provided yet, or by post to address not provided yet. We will handle every request within 30 days at most, and sooner when we can. There is no charge for a request.

Think we violated your rights? You may file a complaint with the Privacy Protection Authority, but we would appreciate it if you contacted us first, so we can fix it.

Direct Mail and Marketing Messages

  • We currently do not send marketing messages. If we start, they will be sent only to those who gave explicit consent in advance, in accordance with section 30A of the Communications Law (Telecommunications and Broadcasting), 5742-1982, and every message will include a simple, immediate and free way to unsubscribe.
  • Service messages are not marketing - a quote, a request to approve additional work, a message that the device is ready for pickup, or scheduling a home visit are sent to every customer, because they are part of performing the service.

Minors

  • The service is intended for people aged 18 and over. A minor may hand in a device for repair or provide details only with the approval of a parent or guardian.
  • If it turns out that data about a minor was collected without such approval, we will delete it on our own initiative and without delay. A parent or guardian who believes we received data about their child is welcome to contact us, and we will delete it.

Security Incidents

If a serious data security incident involving personal data occurs, we will act in accordance with the Protection of Privacy Law and the guidelines of the Privacy Protection Authority: we will report to the Authority as required, and notify the people whose data is affected without delay, with a description of the incident, the steps taken and recommendations for protecting yourself.

Data Security

  • The site is served over HTTPS encryption.
  • Access to customer data is limited to those who need it to provide the service.

And an important tip from us: ChipLab will never ask you in a message for an account password, a verification code or credit card details. Received a suspicious message in ChipLab's name (phishing)? Do not click any links, and report it to us.

Changes to This Policy

The version of the policy published on the site is the binding one. A material change will be announced on the site. Before an analytics tool, an advertising pixel or an AI-based chat is added to the site, this policy and the Cookie Policy will be updated. This policy is governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and jurisdiction is given to the courts in Haifa.
